Explore Candes-Saint-Martin, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France At the point where the Loire and the Vienne rivers meet, lies the small village of Candes-Saint-Martin. Explore the small flower-laden streets lined with charming houses made from tuffeau stone and discover the 13th-century Saint Martin collegiate church in the heart of the village. According to local legend, the church was built exactly where Saint Martin died in 397. A pleasant 3.5 km walk will take you to a viewpoint, where you can sit on the benches and admire the breath-taking scenery that surrounds the village.

Visit the terraces of the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire

Perched on top of a rocky headland and overlooking the Loire river stands the Château of Chaumont-sur-Loire, where Catherine de’ Medici and Diane de Poitiers once lived.
