How to cross the bridge of Saint Nazaire ?

Do you plan to start or end your route along La Loire à Vélo in Saint-Brévin-les-Pins and arrive in or depart from Saint-Nazaire by train?

It is strongly recommended not to cross the bridge by bike. There are several alternatives to avoid doing so:

Shuttle

The shuttle service, which facilitates the crossing of the bridge between Saint-Brevin-les-Pins and Saint-Nazaire for cycle tourists, as well as access to the Loire à Vélo, Vélodyssée, and Vélocéan cycle routes, will be offered again in summer 2026.

This minibus equipped with a trailer ensures a safe crossing of the Loire for cyclists and operates in both directions. It can accommodate up to 8 people and 8 bicycles simultaneously.
Frequency: 9 round trips per day

Periods:

  • From July 4 to August 30, 2026, daily
  • Luggage, child seats, and trailers are permitted on board. However, tandems and cargo bikes cannot be transported. Users must load and unload their equipment themselves.

Fare: €5 per passenger, with advance booking available.

Bus + bike service: ALEOP network line 317 available all year around 

  • Booking is required the day before travel at the latest, on +33 02 40 21 50 87 (booking service open from 9am to 4pm from Monday to Thursday and from 9am to 12pm on Fridays. To make a booking for Saturday, Sunday or Monday, call before 12pm on the Friday before the planned date of travel).
  • €2.60 per person with the bike to be paid on site to the driver in cash
  • Number of places for standard bikes: 8 maximum
  • Owners remain responsible for their bikes and their secure attachment

Taxi + bike

  • Taxis in Saint-Brevin-les Pinsare fitted with “standard” bike racks.
    Each taxi can carry 4 people and 4 bikes maximum, by reservation.
