A remarkable viewpoint over the Loire from the top of a 70 m high promontory, Champalud is just a few steps from the Tourist Office, behind the church. Several benches are available for picnicking in front of the panorama. It’s the perfect break on the Loire à Vélo route.
Perched on a rocky spur 70 metres above the Loire, the Champalud garden offers a spectacular panorama of the Loire and Ile Neuve. Listed since 1935, the panorama invites you on a journey with its 180-degree view. From the villages of the Loire to the steep hillsides, not forgetting the exceptional flora and fauna, the view is so exceptional that you’ll never cease to marvel at its beauty.
You can see various islands in the Loire, such as Île Neuve on your right, or the old fishing village of La Patache, which can be made out through the trees on the right.
There’s something to suit every season and time of day! Our advice is to come at first or last light for a magical moment and admire the golden reflections of the sun on the Loire.
Set in lush greenery and flowers, the site is ideal for picnics, with children’s games, toilets, an open-air swimming pool, a camper van park and the Tourist Office.
Walkers can take a stroll through the beautiful garden of La Cédraie, then continue on through the tunnel under the D751 road to reach the picturesque village of La Patache via the legendary Coulée de la Luce.
Champalud is also the starting point for the “Contes & Légendes” and “Parcours médiéval” walking trails that criss-cross Champtoceaux.
