Rendez-vous du Patrimoine – Visite du Prieuré de Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne

Come and discover the unique and fascinating history of the Priory of Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne (10th century).

The tour takes in the monument’s masterpieces: a colourful and very well-preserved medieval fresco (12th century), a perfectly preserved sculpted and polychrome Renaissance fireplace (16th century), and a fully painted room still awaiting restoration (15th century). The tour also includes a walk around the grounds to admire the remarkable architectural features: a watchtower (17th century), fortified walls (16th century), tuffeau stone and slate. It will conclude with a tasting of local specialities.
