It all began in the 1950s, in Loroux-Bottereau in the heart of the Muscadet, Rogatien Marchais, fascinated by the vineyard, invested in a small plot of vines… A passion for the vine that was quickly passed on to his youngest son, Philippe, who took over the estate in the 80s. Philippe enlarged the family vineyard and extended it across the Loire to Thouaré and then to Mauves-sur-Loire. Using sustainable methods of agriculture, he developed the property with the idea of producing rich and diversified wines in AOC du Nantais, Coteaux d’Ancenis, IGP du Val de Loire and Vins de France. Philippe likes to share his passion and to make people discover his profession. Accompanied by his elder brother, Jean-Claude, the two brothers set out to create a winery in Thouaré-sur-Loire, with the aim of creating a place of exchange and sharing around their common passion, wine. // La Cave du Vignoble Marchais A convivial and authentic place divided into two distinct areas : – The cellar dedicated to direct sales and tasting: discover the wines of Nantes with the production of the Marchais family (AOC du Nantais, Coteaux d’Ancenis, IGP du Val de Loire and Vins de France), the collective of partner winegrowers for a wide variety of wines: Loire, Burgundy, Bordeaux, etc. and a 100% terroir grocery area where you will find a selection of local products: terrines, beers, whiskies, rums and many other delicacies.
