Completed in 1975, the bridge spans the Loire Estuary. It is one of the largest cable-stayed bridges in Europe, rising 61 metres above the river and stretching 3,356 metres between Saint-Nazaire and Saint-Brévin. It replaces the old ferries used to cross the Loire, the remains of which can still be seen on both banks of the river.
