  • MUSÉE DE LA CORDERIE PLANTIVE©

The Corderie Plantive association is working to restore and showcase this traditional rope-making workshop in Machecoul. Its opening to the public will offer visitors the chance to discover a little-known craft and a heritage site of great significance to local history.

From 1900 to 1996, three generations of rope-makers produced ropes for agricultural use in this workshop. Now restored and converted into an eco-museum, the Plantive Rope-making Workshop invites you to discover a craft that is little known today. It is also an important site for understanding the history of the region. The Association for the Preservation of the Rope-Making Workshop has been working since 2019 to promote this heritage of craftsmanship, located in Machecoul in the heart of the Pays de Retz.

Opening times:
From 7 July to 28 August 2026: the Plantive Rope-making Workshop is open for self-guided tours two days a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10.00 to 12.30 and from 15.00 to 18.00, except on Tuesday 14 July
