The Corderie Plantive association is working to restore and showcase this traditional rope factory in Machecoul. Opening the factory to the public will be an opportunity to discover a little-known craft and an important heritage site in local history.
From 1900 to 1996, three generations of rope makers made ropes for agriculture in this workshop. Now restored and transformed into an eco-museum, the Plantive rope factory invites you to discover a little-known trade. It is also an important site for understanding the history of the region. Since 2019, the Association pour la Sauvegarde de la Corderie has been working to promote this heritage craft, located in Machecoul in the heart of the Pays de Retz.
Opening times.
From 09 July to 21 September: the Plantive Corderie is open to visitors two days a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10am to 12.30pm and from 3pm to 6pm.
Exceptional opening also during the European Heritage Days on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September.
The rest of the year: visits can be booked in advance with the association.
