Measuring 3.78 metres high, its shape is very unusual: very wide at the base, it suddenly narrows towards the top and its thickness is disproportionate to its height. It appears to have been erected to form a triangle with the Boivre menhir (Saint-Brevin-les-Pins) and the Crotterie menhir (Chauvé). The exact meaning of these triangles is not known, but many megaliths form triangles in this way, and it was once said that if you dug into one of these triangles you would find a treasure.
The legend of the Pierre Levée menhir recounts that in the past, strange masses were held at the foot of the menhir. Those who wanted to make contact with the devil, for more or less avowed reasons, had to go there on a moonless night. All they had to do was walk around the menhir 7 times in one direction and 5 times in the other, and the princes of darkness would appear.
