Le Coteau de Mimi

At Le Coteau de Mimi in La Chapelle-Saint-Florent, you can savour the true flavour of the land’s produce directly from the source, with complete transparency. It’s the ultimate example of a short supply chain in the heart of the Mauges region, where freshness goes straight from the field to visitors’ baskets.

Behind this 3-hectare micro-farm, run organically, is Marine. Her philosophy is based on absolute respect for the environment and animal welfare, with 250 laying hens thriving outdoors every day. Marine is also developing a unique circular agroforestry project: planting fig trees on terraces. These trees will soon provide welcome natural shade for the hens, whilst the hens’ manure will enrich the soil to nourish delicious purple figs.

The farm’s produce display changes with the seasons. Food lovers can find ultra-fresh organic eggs there all year round, complemented in the warmer months by fragrant strawberries, red berries and produce from the orchard.

On site, the shopping experience celebrates local produce and simplicity through a system based on mutual trust. There are no set opening hours or queues: products are available on a self-service basis if Marine isn’t there. Customers help themselves, work out the total and leave their payment in the box provided.

A note for passing travellers: a fully equipped tent warmly welcomes hikers, cyclists and horse riders for a refreshing break in the heart of the farm.
