LA BUTTE DE LA ROCHE

  • LA BUTTE DE LA ROCHE©

The Butte de la Roche is a remarkable natural feature, the result of the area's geological history. It rests on particularly resistant siliceous rock (birbirite), which has withstood erosion better than the surrounding terrain, thus explaining its dominant position in the heart of the marsh. This promontory offers a valuable insight into the evolution of landscapes, shaped over time by the climate and the action of water.

From its summit, the panorama opens out onto :

The Marais de Goulaine, with its water, meadows and canals,
the Nantes vineyards, a veritable mosaic that comes alive with the rhythm of the seasons,
the Château de Goulaine and its hillsides,
and, on a clear day, the silhouette of Nantes on the horizon.

Accessible via footpaths, the site is equipped with an orientation table to help visitors better understand and appreciate the richness of the Nantes vineyard landscape.
