Based in Poitiers, the Franco-Japanese artist excels in the Nerikomi technique. This Japanese technique consists of colouring clays, and then using precise kneading to create patterns inside a colombin. And Yuko often insists that these pieces are neither painted nor printed. The same rigour is applied to every object! Yuko colours, kneads, cuts, taps, extends, calibrates, shapes, re-cuts... A choreography of calculated, controlled gestures that gives rise to objects of disconcerting geometric perfection.

Authentic and joyful at the same time, the ceramist frees herself from these demands in her "Patchwork" pieces, in which she assembles, tears, glues and crumples motifs to create a world somewhere between plants and textiles, in which the multitude of motifs come to life in a sudden, even casual movement.
