A committed artist with a worldwide reputation, Banksy uses stencils to denounce, with humour and poetry, the excesses of our societies: racism, war, capitalism and disinformation. Faithful to his anonymity - despite recent revelations - he remains a figure as mysterious as he is influential. This exhibition explores his work, his career and his commitments.

In Angers, the Banksy Modeste Collection is presenting works by Kurdish artist Zehra Doğan for the first time. Produced in prison after her conviction in 2017 for a work denouncing the actions of the Turkish army, they bear witness to her daily prison life. Banksy supported him at the time with a monumental mural in Manhattan.

The Banksy Modeste Collection's mission is to present to the general public the career and commitments of this now world-famous artist. Built up by a private collector who painstakingly assembled objects, drawings, silkscreens and collaborations by the artist, this collection of nearly 250 works traces Banksy's career from the 1990s to the present day. In 2020, it was acquired by Thierry Angles, who set up the Banksy Modeste Collection, a structure dedicated to organising free exhibitions in support of the artist's values.

The exhibition is open to the public, with mediators on hand at all times.
