The actual church was built from 1899 to 1904 following plans of the architect Dussauze. It replaced the previous Roman church, demolished in 1899. Dussauze created a gothic revival style structure, with an elegant general appearance. You go into the church through a bell-tower-porch whose thin slate arrow is a reminder of Cornillé-les-Caves church. A high relief representing Saint Symphorien heading to martyr sits on top of the portal. The old presbytery can be found near the church. The oldest parts of this precious construction comes from the 12th century according to recent archaeological studies. It was reworked over time, dormers were added in the 18th century and a sundial was painted on the facade. It has kept a string identity. The town now does its best to show it off while respecting its heritage interest.
