From touching the material to creating it: discover the secrets of leather and make your own object!

The Musée des Métiers in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Plaine (Mauges-sur-Loire, 49) invites young people aged 8 to 15 to immerse themselves in the world of leatherwork. It's a unique opportunity to discover how a raw hide becomes a precious, durable object.

Immerse yourself in the leather workshop:
-The leather journey (30 min): Participants explore the history of this noble material, from its origins to its many uses over the centuries. A captivating introduction to the challenges of this art form.

-An inspiring encounter: The experience is enriched by a discussion with a leatherworker. It's a great opportunity to observe her work, discover her specific tools and ask all your questions about this precision craft.

-The creative workshop: Let's get making! Equipped with traditional tools, children and teenagers learn how to transform leather into their own object. Cutting, assembling, finishing... everyone discovers the pleasure of working with their hands.

Each participant will leave with a unique leather creation, a testament to his or her introduction to the craft.
