Atelier créatif : l’art des Lettrines

Before the advent of modern printing, manuscripts were adorned with magnificent decorative letters known as initials. These true masterpieces caught the eye right from the very first pages of the most precious books.

During this workshop, children will discover the techniques used by illuminators in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. They will learn to draw, colour and embellish their own initial letter using motifs inspired by nature, animals and historical designs.

An artistic interlude that encourages patience, observation and creativity – and, above all, an opportunity to take home an elegant and colourful piece of work worthy of the finest manuscripts.
