How about moving from discovery to creation? The Musée des Métiers in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Plaine (Mauges-sur-Loire, 49) offers an immersive experience for 8-15 year olds to discover the secrets of the builders and decorators of yesteryear.
An immersion between wood and light with a workshop to create a paper stained glass window and its wooden frame:
-Artisans du Patrimoine" tour (30 min): The workshop begins with an exploration of the temporary exhibition. A themed visit to understand the crucial role played by the woodworking trades in our heritage. Carpentry, joinery, old tools... an ideal source of inspiration before moving on to the workbench.
-From material to object: time to make it! Participants learn how to create a stained-glass window using paper, contrasts and colours, before making a wooden frame.
-Know-how and seasonality: Supervised by the museum, they will discover the technical vocabulary and manipulate the materials to create a unique motif, inspired by the collections or the rhythm of the seasons.
Each participant leaves with a framed stained glass window.
From 8 to 15 years old.
(Adults take part in the visit, but only children create their own work).
