You can get to Angers by train, coach or car to join the Loire à Vélo cycle route. Looking to rent a bike? The team of professionals at Accueil Vélo offer a range of bicycles to suit everyone’s needs and desires.

Climb on your bike and start out from the Parc Balzac in Angers, a green space on the banks of the Maine with flower beds, large open spaces and family gardens.

A short ride will take you to Trélazé and its famous slate quarries. Cross the Authion on the Bac de la Chevalerie ferry (closed from November to March) to arrive at Ponts-de-Cé, where the bravest can take a plunge in the waters! A change of scene awaits you at Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire: a Mediterranean-style garden overlooking the Loire with vines, olive trees and herbal plants offers an outstanding viewpoint.

Your route continues to La Piverdière in Bouchemaine, in the heart of a natural site covering 7ha. Keep pedalling from here or continue foot. Either way, you’ll soon reach the Lac de Maine, a haven of peace at the gateway to Angers. Go around the lake to get back to the Parc Balzac.
