Of all the boules games, boule de Fort is by far the most popular and the most characteristic of Anjou. Its originality comes from the combination of a curved court (25 m long by 7 m wide, with slopes rising from 35 to 40 cm on the sides) and an iron-rimmed ball, with one side heavier than the other, known as the Fort (the iron ball weighs 1.4 kg and is 12 cm in diameter and 9.5 cm thick). The players push these balls and try to get them closer to the master, who is also called Petit.
