Peau de papier

he Médiathèque de Chambray-lès-Tours is organizing an exhibition of Marie Lhomet’s work. A visual artist, Marie Lhomet calls herself a paper artist, since paper is so central to her work. She creates by hand, striving to transform the plant, shaping it into a work of art. This involves working with sensation, emotion and the unconscious. A research artist, she goes back to the source of her practice to better understand it, and back to the source of her materials to better work with them. She looks for materials that are more respectful of the environment, if possible local or recycled. The artist aspires to blur the boundaries between craft and art by reclaiming age-old techniques.
