This monument, created in 1989 by the sculptor Jean-Claude Mayo, stands on the former site of the ferry landing stage that crossed the estuary before the road bridge was built. His work is made up of wooden parts suggesting the ribs of a slave ship, and three bronze figures highlighting the stages in the abolition of slavery.
