Montsoreau: “most beautiful village”
This village, situated within the area of the Loire Valley listed as UNESCO world heritage, boasts two prestigious titles: one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France” and “Small City of Character”. It’s easy to see why! Who could resist its pretty flower-filled streets, houses built of white tuffeau stone, slate roofs, paths leading to Saumur vineyards and especially its château on the banks of the Loire? The village is also home to other, sometimes rather unusual, features, such as a mushroom farm and troglodyte houses.
