MENHIR DU BIAIS

Stone measuring 1m80 high. Discovered in 1997. It would appear that this stone is not really a megalith, but rather a rectified stone, put there to make it look like a megalith. Nevertheless, the village of Les Biais has a rich and glorious past, as it was once home to a Templar commandery, which can be traced back to 1207 in the archives. The village also had the right to hold its own fair once a year, a much sought-after right at the time. There is still evidence of a cross in the village from the commandery. The chapel, however, has been destroyed. It still existed in 1809. For many years, it housed a relic of the True Cross, now kept in the church of Saint-Père-en-Retz.Pets allowed
