His French is not the same as ours. In the show "Les fables ? It's not me... it's Jean!" we tell Jean de la Fontaine's fables for today's people, using today's words! So we understand!
Just imagine... I'm 10 years old today, I open the big book of "Fables de La Fontaine", I read but I don't understand, it's not my language, they're not my words.
I'm told that the moral remains true today, perhaps? But I still need to grasp the meaning... It was with this in mind that the idea was born... Not to recite the text of La Fontaine's fables, but to tell them, to tell the story, in a 21st century language, in order to give access to the meaning. Then we'll add songs and music to bring out the musicality of the language.
