Le Mesnil-en-vallée is a delegated commune of Mauges-sur-Loire, located along the Loire between Nantes and Angers.
Its tiled and slate roofs form a mosaic that reflects its dual identity: while it is a fully-fledged part of the Mauges region, it is also a commune on the Loire, marking the western boundary of the Val de Loire, a UNESCO World Heritage site for cultural landscapes.
The village of Mesnil-en-Vallée is set back from the Loire.
It nestles below a plateau that is ideal for farming, mixed farming and arboriculture, giving way to the Mauges bocage and offering a wide panoramic view of the Loire. At the very bottom, the Thau – an ancient branch of the river – meanders along a valley with meadows that are often flooded in winter.
