In the heart of the Anjou region, on a small island on the last wild river, there’s one village whose gentle charm shines through… Béhuard.
This Petite Cité de Caractère is the only island in the Loire to be a commune in its own right. It has just a hundred or so year-round inhabitants and is part of the Val de Loire, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
With four guided tours – “The Secrets of the East”, “Heading West”, “Around the Island” and “The Village of Béhuard” – Carine, your guide and local resident, is sure to have you covered. Carine, your guide and a local resident of the island, will show you the length and breadth of this jewel of the Loire, on foot or on a scooter, all year round… except on floody days!
“Les secrets de l’Est” and “Cap à l’Ouest” can be done with your dog by reserving a “Cani visite” time slot.
All the tours are easy and can be done by anyone. These are observation walks, not hikes.
In summer, to take advantage of the birdsong, it’s best to visit in the morning, between 7am and 11am.
