Between the Champs-Neufs machinery and the Carnet lock, the Basse-Loire maritime canal offers a wide range of discovery options.
If you follow the Loire à Vélo itinerary, you’ll be struck by the picturesque charm of the villages and old ports of La Roche and Le Migron. You can enjoy water sports and cultural activities at the Quai Vert, or try a microlight flight.
Equipped with binoculars, come and watch the migratory birds on the edge of the Massereau island reserve, a vast area of reedbeds, willow groves and meadows.
There are also two outdoor leisure parks: Legendia Parc and Défi Nature.
A little history of Frossay
The present-day market town replaced the Bourg aux Moines, founded in the 11th century. Previously, the parish centre was closer to the Loire and was named after Saint Front, Bishop of Périgueux. Frossay is one of the oldest parishes in the Pays de Retz.

Many thanks to Gilles Bruyelle for this magnificent and gentle presentation of the site, with all its precision: a documentary by Canal de La Martinière for TéléNantes, which you can watch on video.
A 26-minute historical documentary produced at the end of 2017 to promote the wealth of the SOUTH LOIRE REGION, the RETZ COUNTRY and the TOWN of FROSSAY.
