Eglise Saint-Martin

This church was built in the 13th century. It has three naves, a square apse and a side bell tower to the left of the apse. The name of Ouzouer sur Trézée is the deformation of the Latin term “Oratorium” designating a sanctuary. Moreover, this name was only given to the parish from the 6th century. Indeed, during the Norman invasions, the monks fled to Auxerre and deposited the relics of Saint Martin in Ouzouer-sur-Trézée. This church had a double influence. Indeed, it was exposed to Burgundian inspirations due to its location in the diocese of Auxerre, on the edge of Puisaye. It was also influenced by Paris when Philippe-Auguste united the county of Gien to the Crown, thus making the king lord of Ouzouer.
