Samson was born into the world of Gypsy music in Lorraine: he is the son of Dorado Schmitt and the nephew of Tchavolo Schmitt. With Dorado as his teacher, he soon found himself on stage, at the age of 12, at the Munich Jazz Festival in Germany. On this occasion, his team-mates are also very young: Timbo Mehrstein (v) and Yano Scordo (l).
Like other Manouche musicians of his generation, his source of inspiration is not limited to Django Reinhardt, but also extends to contemporary jazz musicians such as George Benson and Bireli Lagrène, among others.
