Every year, the commune of Vallères honors the memory of the American soldiers who died in 1944 when a plane crashed on the commune?s territory. In 2024, to mark its 80th anniversary, the commune is organizing a larger event on Saturday June 22, with a mass in the Saint Médard church at 10 a.m., a ceremony around the stele at 11 a.m., followed by a vin d?honneur. The catering area will feature a refreshment bar, barbecue, food truck burger, sweets stand, cotton candy and ice cream parlour. Entertainment and exhibitions are scheduled for the afternoon: pin-up show/competition, military camp and exhibition of military equipment, inflatables for the little ones, jewelry/clothing/tattoo stands, motorcycle and trike exhibition, vintage cars, US trucks, rock?n roll and rock concerts
