boule de fort is a leisure sport that is part of Anjou’s intangible cultural heritage. It originated in the men’s clubs of the 19th century, in Maine-et-Loire.
A game is played with “boules de fort”, wooden or plastic balls with iron hoops around them, on a concave track.
Our society, La Bonne Alliance, was founded in 1868 at La Pointe Bouchemaine. The game was originally made of Guédéniau clay. The boule de fort has a strong social vocation, bringing people together in the villages.
We have chosen to open our circle to the general public since 2017 to help people discover this still often unknown heritage.
