The 65th Anjou Saumur Wine Festival: Sweet wines take centre stage!
The new edition of the Fête des Vins d'Anjou-Saumur, on 16 and 17 May 2026, will showcase all the Appellations of sweet wines from Anjou - Saumur,
Ah, the sweetness of the Loire vineyards... Here, sweet and syrupy white wines are a veritable invitation to taste and pair with food and wine......
Over-ripe or botrytised harvests (the famous "noble rot") bring out the best in Chenin Blanc, which reveals generous aromas of honey, candied apricots and exotic fruit.
A Nectar indeed, but always with a hint of Loire freshness to balance it all out. Gourmet wines... that are still easy to digest.
What's more, the sunny 2025 vintage will showcase all the wines of the Anjou - Saumur region and demonstrate the work of the region's winemakers.
Once again, the 65th vintage will allow you to discover the huge diversity of wines from the Anjou - Saumur vineyards, and even beyond with some of the Loire Valley appellations, such as Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil.
......Et around local products, in an atmosphere of country music and magic...!
In May 2025, the members of the Union des Producteurs de Grands Vins Loire Layon Aubance (U.P.G.V), and all the volunteers who organise this event, wanted the 64th edition of the name to take place in a rural atmosphere with the possibility of eating and tasting the products of craftsmen and traders, in a musical atmosphere....
The 65th edition will continue in this vein, as feedback from last year's public was very positive....
With the addition of other events, such as magic on Sunday....
As always, from 10 o'clock on Saturday morning until Sunday evening, you'll be able to taste the wines of the year and previous vintages in the Winegrowers' Village.
You can also find out more about sweet and syrupy wines and their secrets at an oenological event for wine-lovers and non-enthusiasts alike.
What's more, you'll have the chance to try new local products (fouaces, galettes, breads, cheeses, honey, .....).
Over the 2 days of the event, music groups and ..... magicians will be roaming the quays, to the delight of young and old alike .....
As you can see, everything is being done to ensure that you have a great time with family and friends, enjoying the wines of Anjou-Saumur and the Loire.
All the volunteers and exhibitors will be delighted to welcome you to the 65th Anjou-Saumur Wine Festival.

Sweet or syrupy white wines? A gentle dilemma!
If you confuse the terms sweet and syrupy, you're not alone!
The difference lies in the amount of residual sugar:
Sweet white wines: their moderate sweetness (12 to 45 g/l) is ideal for balancing sweet and savoury dishes.
Sweet white wines (over 45g/l of sugar): they reveal a richer aromatic intensity, thanks to a more generous residual sugar content. These wines are real jewels, perfect for special occasions.
In the Loire Valley, sweet and syrupy wines are mainly made from Chenin Blanc.
Their secret? A natural phenomenon called noble rot.......
The result: complex, seductive wines for laying down.... !
Nuggets to savour :
AOP "Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru": a masterpiece of elegance and complexity.
AOP "Bonnezeaux": For incomparable depth and aromatic richness.
AOP "Coteaux du Layon": for perfectly balanced sweetness.
AOP "Coteaux de l'Aubance": a fine blend of delicacy and minerality, reflecting its schistose terroir.
AOP "Coteaux de Saumur": an exquisite smoothness that retains a seductive freshness.
The winemakers at the 65th Fête des Vins d'Anjou - Saumur will be delighted to help you discover and taste these top-quality wines at their stand! The U.P.G.V Committee
