Doctor Moulineaux begins a clandestine affair with Suzanne, one of his patients. To conceal this adulterous passion, he rents a mezzanine floor formerly occupied by a dressmaker. As soon as he and his mistress move in, Moulineaux is confronted with the arrival of some of the dressmaker’s customers, as well as his mother-in-law, his lawful wife and Suzanne’s husband, who also brings his mistress… Cascading lies and unexpected twists punctuate this play by Georges Feydeau. A senseless imbroglio in which everyone tries to pass themselves off as someone they are not… The lively dialogue and comic situations make this play a true masterpiece of vaudeville, where lightness and humour dominate.
