During the conquest of the American continent, from the Rio Grande in the north to Tierra del Fuego in the south, via the Caribbean Sea and the Amazon rainforest, the music and songs of the Amerindians mixed with those of the Spanish. A few decades later, it was the African songs of the slaves that mixed with those of the natives.
This blend of rumba and flamenco, Amerindian and African traditions gave rise to salsa, samba, bossa nova and tango. Music that is instantly recognisable, rich in rhythm and colour. The ensemble of musicians from the ONPL So Brass take us on a concert where brass and percussion resonate to the driving rhythm of Latin sounds.
