La coulée de la Luce is a natural area running alongside the Loire between Champtoceaux and its old fishing village.
Its wooded paths offer lovely views of the river of the same name, but will also teach you more about local legends.
And yes! La coulée is famous for its many tales and legends dating back to Gallic times. On your way to the medieval town or the alleys of La Patache, 5 open books will tell you all about the mysteries of the Coulee de la Luce. The water from the spring was reputed to cure eye diseases!
Getting there couldn’t be easier! After a magnificent view from the Champalud panorama and a stroll through the beautiful Jardin de la Cédraie, take the tunnel under the D751 road and immerse yourself in the green world of the coulée de la Luce.
Did you know that before the road was built, the Jardin de la Cédraie, the adjoining house (now the Orée d’Anjou town hall) and the Coulée de la Luce were part of a single estate? To preserve this unity despite the passage of the road, a tunnel was built to avoid splitting the estate in two.
To find out more, we recommend you take a walk along the “Tales and Legends” trail, starting from Champalud!
