Attend the lecture ‘Freeze Frame: 16th October 1852 at the Royal castle of Amboise’ by Claude Vigoureux, PhD in History, on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025. On 16th October 1852, Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte took advantage of a trip to Touraine to visit the castle of Amboise, where he announced his release to Emir Abdelkader. The latter had been imprisoned there for four years. Claude Vigoureux looks back at this event, the history of this imprisonment and its protagonists, and the ties between Emperor Napoleon III and the Emir in the years following this release. Free admission.
