All about Morty explores minimalism, of which Morton Feldman, the American composer born in 1926 and died in 1987, is the emblematic figure, a fraternal echo of the visual artists Robert Morris, Donald Judd and Sol LeWitt.
Built around a specific piece, Viola in my life, of which the composer himself conceived several versions, the “All about Morty” project brings together keyboardist Jozef Dumoulin, three musicians from Ensemble Cairn (Cécile Brossard-alto, Christelle Séry-guitar, Sylvain Lemêtre-percussion) and musicologist Clément Lebrun.
Together, they explore, decipher and extend Morton Feldman?s hypnotic music, written between 1950 and 1970.
All about Morty is a journey to the center of sound, to the edge of silence, a strange, meditative and suspended journey.
