The Montjean drinking water production plant is one of the largest in the department. The first water catchments were created in 1956, and the commissioning of the plant enabled drinking water supplies to be rolled out to rural areas in the Mauges and Gâtine regions from the 1960s onwards. Drinking water treatment supplies around 150,000 people in the south of Maine-et-Loire and the north of Deux-Sèvres. Come and find out how drinking water is treated and pressurised, and how to protect this precious resource.
